What is Vax-D?

Vax-D (Vertebral Axial Decompression) is a patented, non-surgical, non-invasive, drug-free, safe, cost-effective alternative therapy technology. It holds Patent #6,039,737 and is a registered trademark of Vax-D Medical Technologies.

Allan Dyer, M.D., invented and founded the revolutionary Vax-D technology. He introduced Vax-D in 1991 and his technology is being used worldwide by physicians in orthopedic medicine, neurosurgery, pain medicine and management, neurology, and other specialties.

In over 10 clinical studies, Vax-D has been shown to be an effective, conservative treatment option for decompression of the spine. Vax-D does not have the risks associated with surgery, injections, or anesthesia. Vax-D is the only patented treatment clinically proven to decrease disc pressures to the negative levels needed to facilitate healing.

Vax-D is not to be confused with linear traction. Vax-D has been shown to lengthen and decompress the spine, to relieve pressure on the structures that may be causing chronic lower back pain.

How Does It Work?

During a Vax-D session, the patient lies face-down on the specially designed table. A pelvic harness is fitted around the hips, and the lower portion of the table gently slides to apply a controlled distraction force to the lumbar spine. The treatment is computer-controlled to ensure precise, consistent force application throughout each session.

The Vax-D table uses a precisely controlled motorized system to create a negative intradiscal pressure — essentially a vacuum effect — that draws herniated or bulging disc material back toward the center of the disc, relieving pressure on compressed nerves and promoting the flow of nutrients and oxygen into the disc. Unlike traditional traction, Vax-D's patented pelvic harness and angle of pull are specifically designed to target the lumbar discs with minimal muscle guarding.

Vax-D treatment typically consists of approximately 20 daily sessions of 45 minutes each on the decompression table. A vast majority of patients experience positive outcomes. Patients have reported Vax-D Therapy to be comfortable, relaxing, and providing lasting relief — decreasing and/or alleviating pain and helping to avoid surgery.
